MY FAVORITE CD'S OF LATE

35 minutes of simply the best rockn'roll ever. The 1969 CCR release Willie an the Poor Boys is one of the most underrated records of all time. Sure "Foutunate Son" is worthy of their greatest hits, but "Don't look Now" might be the overlooked CCR gem you never heard. I'd be hard pressed to choose between it and "Effigy" as to which is not only my favorite Fogerty song on any record...or which applies more to today then back in 69. And if your gonna do a cover Leadbelly's the man to get it from. "Cotton Feilds & Midnight Special" are as timeless as this record. "Feelin Blue", "Came Out of The Sky", and the other songs on this recording won't put you to sleep either.

WHAT IS BETTER THAN THIS?

Blaze Foley OVAL ROOM The remastered leftovers from "Live at the Austin Outhouse" This is simply the best music ever written. It's a shame Blaze died a few weeks after this recording. No one can make you feel this sad with so few words. Anyway Foley knew he wouldn't be famous till after he was dead. Check out his story at blazefoley.com

Who the hell are the Jackson 5? Herbert Sam and his boys (the Sam Brothers 5) get it done with there 1979 Zydeco-disco release S.A.M. GET DOWN!! They just started playing together again too!! I'll let you know if they record something new.

Well, don't think I'm blowing my own horn here, but a pretty good CD I'm actually on is The Gospel According to Austin Vol. 5. The money raised from it was to go to Don Waslers medical bills before his death last year & the other musicians on it are pretty outstanding

Charlie Rich The Silver Fox at his best. This country classic from 1973 not only has the Title track "Behind Closed Doors", "I Take it On Home",and"The Most Beautiful Girl", but the re-release has 2 bonus tracs including one of the best songs I've ever heard, "Papa was a Good Man". The tune is almost as good as Clarence Carter's "Patches". Anyway, my buddy Toby said his parents wanted to get married to the song "Behind Closed Doors", but they couldn't play it in church.

I grew up listening to this one...Just like me & my mama...except for the fact that I'm white & don't play guitar all that well. I can't be certain, but I think that's Turbo from the Breakin movies on bass.

Well, They tried. The best band you never heard wore the road out for a long time. Anyway, The Starroom Boys first Record "Why Do Lonley Men & Women want to Break each Other's Hearts?" is prehaps the finest Tear in your beer-Pedal Steel Country release in the last 20 years. Why don't you Have a copy? Yea, it's pretty hard to find.

The Fender died of Cancer. I was pretty bummed out because he's my favorite.

The Best of Freddy Fender:Wasted Days & Wasted Nights-
"This one goes out to all the Housewives that are working in the Beer Joints without there Husbands permission", Freddie says, Before playing the "Wild Side of Life".I usually don't like best of Collections, But this one is 28 songs of Baldemar Heurtas best. He does a little tex-mex, swamp pop, & country. This is prehaps the best Live stuff you will ever hear. Ain't nothin better then Freddie breakin it down with a verse of Classic Country en espanol. My buddy Robbie tried to get high with Baldemar in the early 80's. He said, "What are you trying to do to me? I'm on rehab!"(in the coolest voice ever). But, you have to have a soft spot in your heart for a man that basically did 2 years in the Louisiana State Penn for being Mexican in the 70's (having 2 joints). Since then he done alot for people. "Tell it like it is, little brother".

LIFE IS...... TOO SHORT (1989)-Todd shaw was pimpin these out of his trunk in Oakland. Maybe he ain't got the dance moves, but I think it's got a little more staying power then Hammer Time. My podnuh Roger Yax met him one time. Anyway, If you ain't scared of a little profanity...& you wanna put some bass in your ride, Check this out. BIOTCH!

And what's better than this?
Going to Woodstock & listening to Lavon play with his friends in his own living room. Sure, it was a great movie, but if you ever meet Mr. Helm don't make the mistake of asking him to autograph any Last Waltz shit.. Turns out old Robertson made off with everybodys money & his mic wasn't even on. Levons got a new record coming out soon called "Dirt Farmer". He even get's the money you spend on it.
